Allyson Felix

Allyson Melissa Felix was born at Los Angeles, California on November 18, 1985. The father of her Paul Felix was an ordained minister at the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley and her mother Marlean Felix was a school teacher at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix showed a flair for sports early, and discovered her athletic abilities during her time at Los Angeles Baptist High School. A mere 10 weeks after the initial trial she took, she was ranked 2nd in the 200m race in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix was a high school graduate when she graduated from school in 2003, signed a sports contract with Adidas. She then was accepted into the University of Southern California and completed her studies in elementary education. Felix took home her first Olympic Medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics which took place in Athens Greece. She set the Junior World Record running 200 metres in 22.18 seconds. The 2005 Helsinki World Championships saw her become the youngest woman to be crowned the winner of the 200-meter race. In 2007 she defended this title and beat her Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix participated in Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo and has consistently ranked in the top three of athletes in her respective events.
